The HIV virus, for all the wrong reasons, has been a household  name for decades. Several theories exist concerning the origin of the dreadful diseases which is not the essence of this write-up. 

December 1st is World AIDS Day on the United Nations calendar and below are some vital stats about the disease.

• 36.7 million people globally were living with HIV in 2016.
• 1.8 million people became newly infected with HIV in 2016.
• 1 million people died from AIDS-related illnesses in 2016.
• 76.1 million people have become infected with HIV since the start of the epidemic.
• 35.0 million people have died from AIDS-related illnesses since the start of the epidemic.
• In Nigeria it is estimated that 58% of the people living with HIV are women.

Let's take a look at the factors supporting the continuous spread of the disease.

Fornication and Adultery

Globally, the most common mode of HIV transmission is via sexual contacts between people of the opposite sex. 86% of new HIV infections in Accra Ghana are caused by sexual corruption. 

No doubt, there is no faith in the world that has a stiffer opposition to this societal vice than Islam. Islam prescribes a 100 strokes of cane penalty for fornicators and a death sentence for adulterers. 

Allah (SWT) says in the Glorious Qur'an

“And do not approach unlawful sexual intercourse. Indeed, it is ever an immorality and is evil as a way”. Suratul Isra (17:32)

Obeying this command of Allah by shunning fornication and adultery in all its forms will to a great extent eradicate HIV/AIDS from our planet.

Homosexuality 

In an era where there are incessant calls for the global legalization of homosexuality, one cannot help to wonder if HIV/AIDS will ever be a forgotten topic. Here are some statistics gay rights activists don't want you to know.

• As of 2014, most HIV transmission in the America occurred among gay men. 
• In America, gay men aged 13 to 24 accounted for an estimated 92% of new HIV diagnoses among all men in their age group.
• Gays are 27 times more at risk of contracting HIV than the general population.
• In 2017, men who have sex with men accounted for 57% of new HIV infections in Western Europe and North America and 41% in Latin America and the Caribbean.
• In Mauritania, it's estimated that as many as 45% of gay men are HIV-positive. It is the country with the highest HIV prevalence among gay men in the world.

Sharia law is the major law code in the world that prescribes the death penalty for homosexuality. 

Allah (SWT) says in the Qur'an: 

80. “And had sent Lot when he said to his

people “Do you copy such immorality as no one has preceded you with from among the worlds [peoples]? 

81. Indeed, you approach men with desire, instead of women. Rather you are a transgressing people.”

82. But the answer of his people was only that they said, “Evict them from your city! Indeed, they are men who keep themselves pure.”

83. So WE saved him and his family, except for his wife; she was of those who remained behind [with the evildoers].

84. And WE rained upon them a rain [of stones]. Then see how was the end of the criminals.

Suratul Araf (7:80-84)

In this set of verses, Allah called the homosexuals CRIMINALS!

Ibn ‘Abbas reported that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: “May Allah curse the one who does the action of the people of Loot (gays), may Allah curse the one who does the action of the people of Loot,” three times. Ahmad (2915)

In another Hadith, Ibn Abbas reported that he Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: “Whoever you find doing the action of the people of Loot (gays), execute the one who does it and the one to whom it is done.”

Drugs

In the United States intravenous drug users made up 12% of all new cases of HIV in 2009. In some areas more than 80% of people who inject drugs are HIV positive.

Even though other faiths still claim to abhor alcoholism and intoxication, Islam has remained the fore runner in the campaign against intoxication. Many countries across the globe have been making moves to legalize marijuana for all sorts of reasons, Islam has remained firm.

Allah says in the Glorious Qur'an:

“Satan only wants to cause between you animosity and hatred through intoxicants and gambling and to avert you from the remembrance of Allah and from prayer. So will you not desist?”

Circumcision

Circumcision in Sub-Saharan Africa has been found to reduce the acquisition of HIV by  normal men by between 38% and 66% over 24 months. Due to these studies, both the World Health Organization and UNAIDS recommended male circumcision in 2007 as a method of preventing female-to-male HIV transmission in areas with high rates of HIV.

It should however be noted that a number of European countries do not view circumcision as legal, citing so-called 'human rights' reasons. In February of 2018, a far right political party in Iceland proposed a ban on the circumcision of boys, it is still under review.

Circumcision is the birth right of every Muslim male. 

Abu Huraira narrated that The Prophet (SAW) said, "Five things are in accordance with Al Fitra (i.e. the tradition of prophets): to be circumcised, to shave the pelvic region, to pull out the hair of the armpits, to cut short the mustaches, and to clip the nails." 
(Al-Bukhari Volume 8: Book 74: Hadith 312)

All of these, plus the Rahma of Allah (SWT), is the reason Muslim populations have remained largely safe from the HIV epidemic.

It would be far more beneficial if the so-called HIV campaigners pointed these to the world rather than using the so-called campaign against HIV to market condoms and encourage perversion.
