The Prophecy of Muhammad (SAW) On Mosques Is Coming Through

End Time

On December 17th, the Jigawa state government, under  Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, announced plans to build 95 new mosques across the state.  It was also disclosed in the announcement that doors have been open for construction companies to bid for contracts.

This is indicative of the fact that these mosques will not be the usual N10 million mosques we see at junctions; they are likely to be epic structures.

As with many other issues, schools of thought have emerged. One school of thought says the move will improve righteousness in the state as there will be more places where people worship Allah comfortably.

The other school of thought sees nothing in it but treachery against the people of the state despite its pulchritude.

According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) in Nigeria, Jigawa state is the 5th poorest state in Nigeria with 74.1% % of indigenes living in abject poverty. A lot of beggars and almajiris in Nigeria also come from Jigawa state.

But, perhaps it is not a Nigerian thing. Maybe Muslims of this era have forgotten what Islam really is about. Islam in the 21st century has become a faith of theories and physical structures rather than the compassionate faith that seeks to better the lives of people of the world especially its adherents.

On September 27th 2019, the Muride brotherhood in Senegal launched the Massalikul Jinaan mosque, it is currently the biggest mosque in West Africa. The mosque was built with $50 million.

Senegal is a country where 95.9% of its 15. 8 million population is Muslim. 75% of families in Senegal are living in abject poverty and 46.7% are living on less than $2 per day.

From what we have learnt in Islamic classes from scriptures, what do we think will please Allah the most? Lifting Muslims out of poverty or building massive and expensive structures where the greater percentage of attendants is living in misery?

Certainly, $50 million channeled into any sector in Senegal whether education, health, entrepreneurship or skill acquisition, the 15.8 million population would have been better off. Could this be a sign of the End Times?

Muhammad (SAW) hinted at certain things that will happen towards the end of time.

Anas ibn Malik reported: Muhammad (SAW) said, “The Hour will not be established until people boast about their mosques.” [Ahmad]

It is only logical to believe that Muhammad (SAW) made these statement because at the time Muslims will be building and boasting about the number, size and beauty of their mosques, there will be better things to be done with wealth hence, they will get little or no reward for it.

When the Prophet (SAW) wanted to lie down to sleep, he used to place his right hand under his cheek and say this du'a:

Allahumma qinee ‘athaabaka yawma tab’athu ‘ibaadaka. (Three times in Arabic)

“O Allah, save me from Your punishment on the Day that You resurrect Your slaves.”
[Abu Dawud, Al-Albani, Sahih At-Tirmidhi]

May Allah save His righteous servants from the torments of the Last Hour.
