MISCONCEPTION 3:Islam paints a carnal picture of Paradise

Jannah
Points:
  1. The Qur’an talks about drinking in Paradise.
  2. The Qur’an talks about unlimited sexual pleasure for men in Paradise.
“Those will have a provision determined-Fruits; and they will be honored
In gardens of pleasure on thrones facing one another.
There will be circulated among them a cup [of wine] from a                flowing spring,

White and delicious to the drinkers;
No bad effects is there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated.
And with them will be women limiting their glances, with large, [beautiful] eyes,
As if they were [delicate] eggs, well protected. Suratul Saffat (37:41-49)

              Other verses describe the same scenario.
3.    It was mentioned by Daraj Ibn Abi Hatim, that Abu al-Haytham 'Adullah Ibn Wahb narrated from Abu Sa'id al-Khudhri, who heard the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) saying, “The smallest reward for the people of Heaven is an abode where there are eighty thousand servants and seventy-two houri (Purified female spouses), over which stands a dome decorated with pearls, aquamarine and ruby, as wide as the distance from al-Jabiyyah to San'a”.  (Al-Tirmidhi, Vol. 4, Ch. 21, No. 2687)

REFUTATION

All the rules laid down in the Sharia for humans to follow are totally for the peaceful existence of Allah’s creatures on Earth. After earth, next is the hereafter, humans only live by rules on Earth. It’s like a student’s education. While in school, a student goes for lectures, does assignments, writes tests and exams all the way till convocation day. After convocation everything ends (in the jurico-first degree sense) he gains freedom from all the burden of schooling. In the hereafter there are no rules to restrict the pleasures of mankind just like there will be no rules to restrict human suffering. Here on earth, it is Haram to punish a living thing with fire be it an insect, an animal or a human irrespective of the crime committed. But, we know very well that on the Day of Judgement, sinners will be thrown into the fire of Hell to burn for eternity. In a narration, the Prophet (SAW) said, “No doubt, you would be gathered (on the day of Judgment) barefooted, naked and uncircumcised.” Then he recited, “As We began the first creation, We will repeat it. [That is] a promise binding upon Us. Indeed, We will do it”. Suratul Anbiya (21:104) and said, “The first to be dressed on the Day of Judgment will be Ibrahim (Abraham)...” Aa’isha asked, “O Messenger of Allaah! Will the men and the women look at each other?" He said: “The situation will be too hard for them to pay attention to that." [Al-Bukhari]

According to another narration, Aa’isha said, “O Messenger of Allah! What about the private parts (of men and women)?” The Prophet (SAW) answered reciting the verse, “For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him”. Suratul Abasa (80:37)

From these we see that the rules that apply here in the world do not hold in the hereafter. The verse “No bad effects are there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated” mentioned in the group of verses above should be taken note of. Drinking in this world leads to intoxication and makes the drunkard a security risk to himself and others. Uncontrolled sexual activity results in the spread of diseases which we all know very well, and in some cases; leads to communal crises. In Al Jannah however, it’s going to be a perfect setting where the inhabitants will be cleansed of all negative tendencies and as such the unlimited enjoyment will never lead to any form of misbehavior. The rules of worldly life do not apply in the hereafter hence; the word ‘carnality’ has no place in the afterlife.
