Revealed: Muslims Didn’t Cause Peugeot Plant Closure

Muslims Didn’t Cause Peugeot Plant Closure

In the wake of statements by the head France’s Union of Democrats and Independents (UDI), Jean-Christophe Lagarde, that the PSA Peugeot Citroen car plant had to close because it had employed too many Muslims, a Peugeot spokesman who was not named has joined in dismissing Lagarde’s claims as lies and further hinted that the car plant had to close because the company was on the brink of bankruptcy hence it had to close the plant to cut costs. The claims made by Lagarde who is also the deputy mayor of Drancy, were: “The Aulnay site closed because Muslim employees were constantly taking unscheduled prayer breaks and had become unproductive.” To this, the PSA Peugeot Citroen Trade Union CGT representative, Jean-Pierre Mercier, refuted Lagarde’s statement by saying, “The only time the Aulnay plant closed for so-called religious reasons was for the Christmas break and Easter. All employees worked hard, and Muslim employees prayed outside working hours." Lagarde also claimed that the Muslim employees were always trying to force other workers to embrace Islam. All his claims however were appropriately debunked as ‘nasty lies’. The Aulnay plant closed in 2013.
